I don't think anyone knows. But a gesture has been decided by someone who feels that it should be offensive, and therefore is a hate crime and people are then arrested for it.

True story. Some years ago I worked at a school where if you gave a pupil a detention you had to enter it in a book and give the reason for the punishment. One teacher, who I think probably had Asperger's, gave a detention to a couple of lads and actually wrote in the book that it was for "Simulating anal sex in the corridor".

A bloke I know who was in his early 20's was two months away from having his gear lopped off and who we'd been calling him, at his request, Veronica for the past year.
